🔥Meet The Neighbours!🔥 Tooting-based property advisor Homes with Chuk continues his ‘Meet The Neighbours’ series, this time with arêvery at 116 Tooting High Street! ☕🍷
“I sat down with Krish and Joey recently at their gorgeous spot in Tooting Broadway...and the first thing I asked them was how to actually say the name properly (I didn’t want to get it wrong!).
“arêvery isn’t just your coffee stop. It’s a concept store, coffee bar and wine shop all in one – something totally unique for this area. Krish and Joey talked me through why they built it that way, what they love about being part of the Tooting community, what arêvery is aiming to achieve, their favourite products, and so much more.”

Balham resident & mum, Harriet Robertson, would like to raise local awareness for the health condition, PANDAS – a condition that her young daughter, Sienna was diagnosed with earlier this year. Early recognition of PANDAS really matters and improves treatment outcomes.
Harriet shares her story: “Last year Sienna had tonsillitis seven times and struggled with anxiety – in particular, separation anxiety.
“In February, we saw a sudden shift in her behaviour overnight. She developed sensory issues, became very hyperactive, started having tics, OCD behaviours, and rage outbursts. It didn’t feel like ‘her’ anymore, which was scary to experience as a parent.
“We later learned that this was PANDAS – a condition where a strep infection triggers inflammation in the brain, leading to sudden neuropsychiatric symptoms.
“We were incredibly lucky to see a specialist and get a diagnosis. Sienna has now completed her treatment and we’re so grateful that her symptoms have significantly improved. As a parent, having answers has changed everything.
“Early recognition of PANDAS really matters and improves treatment outcomes. That is why I am running the Royal Parks half marathon in October to raise money for PANS PANDAS UK.
“This incredible charity supports families living with the neuropsychiatric conditions PANS and PANDAS, and is working tirelessly so that every family living with PANS or PANDAS can access the right care pathway, treatment and support when they need it most.
“My aim is to raise awareness of PANDAS so that parents know what symptoms to look out for after a strep infection and can seek medical advice as early as possible.”

Howden Insurance Tooting recently hosted a fantastic community event in support of the Furzedown Project!
Several members of the Project spoke about the incredible work that the Furzedown Project does in the community, sharing their personal stories and the positive impact that the Furzedown Project has had on their lives.
The Furzedown Project is much more than a charity – it’s a place where people build friendships, find purpose, share experiences, and create meaningful connections that strengthen our local community.
Guests at the event included The Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Emmeline Owens, and a wonderful group of local residents, businesses, community leaders, members, and supporters.
The Howden team, who included Matt Hillier, Marian Dowling, Dilpa Patel and Lotte Harding, praised the Furzedown Project team for their ongoing dedication and for allowing them to host the event.
Matt Hillier, the Centre Manager said in his speech: ‘At Howden, we’re proud to support the Furzedown Project. Over the past few years, we’ve had the opportunity to get to know the team and see first-hand the passion, dedication and warmth that make the organisation so special. It is inspiring to see so many people come together to support a cause that has such a positive impact on the lives of local residents.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting the amazing work being done across the community.”

Run Talk Run SW17 is a free mental health and running community which hosts weekly 5k runs every Monday evening, meeting inside downstairs at the Wheatsheaf Tooting pub by Tooting Bec tube station. Everyone is welcome and there is a safe place to leave your bag!
All paces are welcome! No pressure, just a chatty 5K with friendly faces.
Run Talk Run is a friendly and supportive group that aims to make both running and mental health support less intimidating and more accessible, offering a safe and open space to talk about how you are doing (the good times, not-so-good times and everything in between).
Whilst the group chats, they run, walk, or jog 5km. Speed or pace isn’t important and nobody is left behind – whether you’re a seasoned ultra-marathon runner or coming along for your first bit of exercise in a while, all are welcomed and encouraged.
Visit Heylo for more info and to sign up.

🚲 NEW TO WANDSWORTH COMMON: local dads Mark & Jimmy have opened The Common Cyclist, a new bike repair workshop and children’s bike exchange in the little hut on Bellevue Road, opposite Wandsworth Common.
They tell us, “The idea for The Common Cyclist came from a group of local dads brought together by a shared love of cycling. Whilst there were plenty of specialist shops catering for high-end road bikes, we felt there was a real gap when it came to helping families keep their children on the right-sized bikes as they grow.
“We’re both qualified cycle mechanics and, between us, have four grown-up children. Like many parents, we found ourselves with sheds full of outgrown Islabikes. By servicing and reconditioning these quality bikes, we can give them a new lease of life, selling them with a warranty at a fraction of the original price – saving parents money and helping the planet too.
“If your child has outgrown their Islabike or Frog bike, bring it in and trade up to the next size. We also repair and service adult bikes, whether they need a quick fix or a bit more TLC.
“Smaller jobs can often be completed while you grab a coffee on Bellevue Road or enjoy a walk on the Common, while larger repairs and services can be booked online, where you can also browse children’s bikes for sale.
“Come and say hello, browse our range of refurbished children’s bikes and enjoy Jimmy’s eclectic playlist while you wait!”
For more info, to book a service or to see the children’s bikes currently for sale, visit thecommoncyclist.com
Congratulations & good luck, Mark & Jimmy!
