Tooting-based property advisor Homes with Chuk has two chain-free homes – with outside space – in Tooting on his books...
“Both homes are in Tooting Broadway, both are chain-free, and both are brilliant first-time-buyer homes with outside space to enjoy.
“First up: the two-bed with the large private balcony and communal garden – the one I’ve been teasing all week. Scroll back through my page to hear Kayleigh, the owner, share why she chose Tooting and what she’ll miss most about living here. This one goes live on the portals today.
“Then the one-bed with its communal roof terrace – coming soon. This one is less than a two-minute walk from Tooting Broadway tube station and has a large communal roof terrace with fabulous views to savour!
“I was born and raised around here, so nothing makes me happier than handing the keys to someone who’ll love this corner of Tooting as much as Kayleigh has.”
Need some property advice? Email Chuk at hello@homeswithchuk.co.uk, call 07940 546 190, or pop into Tooting Works at 89 Bickersteth Road and ask for him at reception!
Happy 4th birthday to Tooting Bec hairdresser, Adam Alexander 🎉🎂🎊! The much-loved natural colour and balayage salon opened at 11 Upper Tooting Road in 2021 and has proved a massive hit with locals!
Adam tells us, “I come from a three-generation hairdressing family in Northern Ireland, so colour has been in my blood since I could hold a brush. I then spent years hairdressing in Bondi Beach, and that sun-kissed, effortless Australian influence runs through everything we do. Building something of my own here in South London has been the proudest chapter of that story.
“We specialise in colour that looks like it grew that way. Soft, lived-in balayage, natural tones, and a finish that still looks beautiful months after you leave the chair.
“Over four years we have built an amazing community of local clients who were looking for exactly this kind of hair – people who wanted colour that feels effortless and grows out beautifully rather than the high-maintenance look. They feel more like regulars than appointments, and Tooting has backed us from day one. That community is the heart of everything we do.”
Open: Monday: 8.30am-8pm, Tuesday: 8.30am-7pm, Wednesday & Thursday: 8.30am-9pm, Friday: 8.30am-7pm, Saturday: 9am-6pm

Balham Bark, the much-loved independent dog store on Emmanuel Road on the edge of Tooting Common, will be closing at the end of August after three & a half years.
The good news is that The Handsome Hound Grooming will continue under new management from 1st September – with Andrew beginning a well-deserved move towards semi-retirement.
Over the coming weeks, Andrew will be personally introducing clients to the new owner to ensure a smooth and familiar transition. The Handsome Hound will continue welcoming both existing and new grooming clients, and will also retain a carefully selected retail range for everyday essentials.
Balham Bark owner, Trevor tells us, “After a huge amount of thought and with a very heavy heart, we’ve made the decision to close Balham Bark at the end of August. It’s incredibly sad and emotional – Balham Bark has been such a huge part of our lives, and we’ve been so lucky to have such loyal customers since day one.
“We’ll genuinely miss all the chats, laughs, seeing puppies grow up and following their journeys over the years. The relationships we’ve built with our customers and their dogs mean the world to us – it’s difficult to put into words how much that part means to us.
“We’re not disappearing overnight – we’ll continue trading until the end of August and would love customers to keep popping in. To kick things off, we’re launching 50% OFF all collars, leads, bowls, jackets, coats, blankets and selected accessories – while still stocking all the favourite treats, chews, food and toys you know and love.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of the Balham Bark family over the past three and a half years – from our wonderful team to our fantastic suppliers and incredible customers. You’ve all helped create something we’ll always be proud of.
“We’d love to see as many familiar faces as possible before the end of August! 🐾”
We’d like to wish Trevor and Andrew the very best for the future!
