Tooting-based property advisor Homes with Chuk has a round-up of the last few weeks...
“My last few weeks…it included the best kind of thank you 🥩 — my seller treated me to a steak dinner after we got his home sold at a strong price, with zero stress along the way. Honestly, that meal meant more than any five-star review could. When the job’s done properly, this is what it looks like.
“Speaking of the market — swipe through for what’s actually been happening across Tooting, Balham and Streatham these last few weeks.👇
“And if your home’s been sitting around longer than you’d like… it might be your asking price doing the damage. I broke down exactly why over on my blog. 🔗
“You might’ve also caught me in the decorator’s overalls this week 😅 — that one went down a treat. Want to know more? It’s one of my recent posts, you can’t miss it – I’m in the overalls!
“I also had a brilliant catch-up with Ajeet — fresh from flying the Tooting flag on Interior Design Masters, finishing 5th out of 10 (no small thing!). Turns out we’re both Tooting boys, both born right here in St George’s – and both in the business of homes. Our chat’s coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled. 👀
“And speaking of things to watch out for – Kayleigh’s video drops Sunday. Here she is on the balcony getting ready… you’ll want to see this one.”

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Wandsworth literacy charity Learn to Love to Read has won the Best Charity award 🎉 at this year’s Wandsworth Business Awards – and need volunteers to help them continue their vital work.
The charity, which works with primary schools across South West London, was recognised for its work helping children develop confidence, improve literacy skills and discover a genuine love of reading.
Learn to Love to Read helps children discover the joy of reading from their earliest years. Through parent and child classes in libraries, schools and community settings, songs and story sessions delivered with family support organisations, and one-to-one reading volunteers in primary schools, the charity helps children build confidence, develop a love of books and create strong foundations for learning.
The charity is now looking for local people who can spare a small amount of time each week to support pupils at Swaffield Primary School in Earlsfield.
Tara Coffin, Director of Learn to Love to Read, tells us, “Winning Best Charity was a wonderful recognition of the difference our volunteers and team make every week. At the heart of everything we do is helping children discover that reading can be enjoyable, empowering and life-changing.
“We’re excited to be partnering with Swaffield Primary School and are now looking for local volunteers to help us bring the programme to life. Just an hour a week can make a huge difference to a child’s confidence and relationship with reading and in turn their future life chances.”
The charity welcomes volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. No teaching experience is required and full training and support are provided. To learn more, visit their website or email office@l2l2r.org
Congratulations to 8-year old Oliver, who spent his May half term taking on a fundraising cycle ride for Tooting’s St George’s Hospital Charity – his very own Tour D’Isle of Wight, in memory of his grandad who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Once Oliver came up with the idea of cycling a full lap of the Isle of Wight, there was no stopping him. He and his dad, John, cycled an amazing 114km in the heatwave! His mum and sister, Kate and Alice, followed along the route, turning the whole adventure into a family effort to raise money for the hospital that cared for his grandad.
In Oliver’s own words: “I wanted to do it because grandad died and I wanted to raise money for the hospital he was in. Whilst doing it, I felt super super super tired and super super super happy that I was doing it. Now that I’ve done it I feel super (x10) happy and super (x10) tired.” 💙
His family shared how the St George’s Cardiac Unit cared for his grandad with compassion and dignity, making his Christmas stay as memorable and warm as possible. That kindness is something they will never forget.
Oliver has already raised nearly £2,000 in his grandad’s memory. A little boy with a huge heart - pedalling through with love and determination. Well done, Oliver! You’re a superstar. 🌟
If you’d like to find out more, make a donation, or organise your own fundraising challenge for the charity, visit their website.
