Chuk, of Tooting-based Homes With Chuk, has a delightful 2 bedroom garden flat in Streatham to sell! He tells us:
“This fabulous home was actually due to come on to the market a year ago. Photos, floorplan were completed, the marketing strategy was set up and we were ready to go. My sellers had found a larger home locally that they were buying – until unfortunately their sellers pulled out!
“My sellers were understandably disappointed; at the time they felt that house was the one!
“A year later they are now purchasing an even better house, just a few minutes away, which means their gorgeous period conversion can now come to the market!"
“This 2 Bedroom home on Kingscourt Road is sooooo fab! I absolutely adore the contemporary open plan kitchen/reception room which opens up via bi-fold doors onto a private garden with a raised decked areas at the rear.
“The principal bedroom is divine! So calming, so clean, plus those enormous built-in wardrobes…I want them!
“It also benefits from having a Share of The Freehold, and no onward chain.
“The location is superb – it's situated towards the bottom end of Kingscourt Road (a sought-after location in Streatham Hil (Tooting/Balham borders) with Tooting Common less than 2 minutes' walk away.
Independent shops, cafés, restaurants and so much more are a short stroll away too, as is Streatham Hill mainline station (with connections to Victoria & London Bridge). Or, catch a bus straight to Brixton, hop on the Victoria line and emerge in the West End 15 minutes later! .
"It’ll be 'live' on the portals from Mon 1st September, but if you would like more details and perhaps a sneak viewing before then, feel free to let me know."

I & A Fashions have been kitting out children in school uniform for local schools since 1993 and owner Mohammed (who went to Graveney School in Tooting himself) is keen for more local residents to discover his huge store at 84 Mitcham Road. He tells us more:

Residents of Rustic Avenue on the edge of Furzedown are up in arms after a neighbour hacked into a historic lime tree, apparently in anger over resin dripping onto his car. The century-old tree is now so badly damaged that it will have to be removed.
“We care about our trees, so we felt really violated,” said long-time resident Resina Chowdhury. “Just to think someone has done this to a hundred-year-old tree. Even if we get a replacement, it’s going to take a long, long time for anything to fill the void.”

Wandsworth Council are urging people to dispose of batteries properly after a fire broke out in the back of a waste collection truck last week, caused by a small lithium battery in a recycling bag.
The diligent waste collection crews spotted the smoke and called the fire brigade who arrived and put out the fire within just 10 minutes.
Not only did this cause damage to the truck itself, it created a serious safety risk for waste collection teams and members of the public.
Thankfully no one was harmed, but this near miss is a reminder of the importance of recycling batteries correctly.
They must be taken to a dedicated battery recycling point and not placed in your usual rubbish and recycling.
There are many battery recycling points across the borough, including in libraries. All retailers must also provide free recycling collection points for used batteries if they sell over 32kg of batteries each year (roughly equivalent to one pack of 4 AA batteries per day).
If not recycled properly, e-scooter batteries can cause a serious fire risk.
Do not dispose of it in your household waste or normal recycling. These batteries can cause fires in bin lorries and at recycling and waste centres.
The manufacturer or importer of your e-scooter must offer a free take-back service for waste e-scooter battery packs. Contact them for details or ask the retailer where you bought the e-scooter.
If this isn't possible, Halfords can accept e-scooter batteries, so you can drop them off in-store.

COMING SOON TO TOOTING: Cup Coffee is to open at 50 Trinity Road in Tooting Bec. We’ll keep you posted…
When the time came to extend the Northern line from Clapham Common to Morden after the First World War, the engineers came upon an especially puzzling problem – how to build Tooting Broadway tube station on top of what was essentially an underground lake?
The ground was so wet that the station had to be built under compressed air conditions. Air locks had to be built at the bottom of shafts where the engineers worked to ensure that no air could get into the workings below. Then horizontal air locks had to be built in the sections of tunnel so they could be completed.
