Tooting Interior Designer on BBC's Interior Design Masters
Congratulations to Tooting Designer Ajeet Jugnauth, who’s now appearing on BBC One’s Interior Design Masters!
Born and raised in Tooting, Ajeet’s approach to design is deeply shaped by the home he grew up in - a family house that evolved over more than four decades. Now living there with his partner, he has carefully reworked the space, using it as a foundation for his design thinking: that homes can be refined and reinterpreted over time, rather than completely replaced.
After being made redundant, Ajeet began exploring interior design more seriously, working with a small number of clients while developing his approach. What began as a period of uncertainty became a turning point - ultimately leading him to apply for Interior Design Masters.
“A lot of how I think about design comes from growing up in South London, and from living in the same home for most of my life,” he says. “You see how spaces shift with people, with time, with need - and that’s something I carry into every project.”
“Being from Tooting, it’s important to me that people can see that creative careers - and spaces like this - are accessible. Representation isn’t always about making a statement, sometimes it’s just about being visible and showing what’s possible.”
Following filming, Ajeet has launched his interior design studio, ByAjeetJugnauth, now working with clients across London and the UK. While his work has a growing national reach, his roots remain firmly in South London, where he continues to live and draw inspiration from the area’s homes, character and community.
Alongside his design work, Ajeet remains actively connected to the local community. He is a Trustee for the arts and homelessness charity Cardboard Citizens and has supported Wandsworth’s Borough of Culture as a Local Champion.
Interior Design Masters airs every Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One, and is also available on BBC iPlayer.
