Barbecues and fires are illegal in any of Wandsworth's green spaces
Wandsworth residents are reminded that barbecues and fires are illegal in any of the borough’s parks, commons and green spaces. People who do so could be fined.
If you see someone barbecuing in a public green space, you can contact the parks police by calling their patrolling team on 07500 95 94 42. More info about PArks Police via Wandsworth Council.
When barbecuing on balconies, the wind may carry smouldering ash towards nearby grassland or neighbouring properties, starting a fire.
If you are barbecuing at home:
• Don’t use accelerants to get it going.
• Avoid distractions from people around you and never leave the BBQ unattended.
• Avoid drinking alcohol if you are in charge of the BBQ.
• Keep children, pets and garden games a safe distance from the BBQ.
• Have a bucket of water or sand nearby for emergency use.
• After cooking, let it cool and make sure it is properly out
